Zarino's Sand Copper Anklet
This is the piece people choose when they want something they can forget they’re wearing, until a glance reminds them it’s there. I made it for those who don’t want weight or attention, just copper resting against the skin, doing what copper does. The dimples across the surface come from a ball-peen hammer, each one placed by hand, lighter and more spaced than in my heavier pieces, giving it a softer way of catching the light.
Those who wear copper regularly tend to tell me the same thing. Over time, they stopped noticing the discomfort they once felt in their joints and feet.
This is one of the final anklets I’ll make before I close my workshop for good. I hope it finds the ankle it was meant for, something quiet, something real.
